How to make animated GIF picture in GIMP?

GIMP is a open source software for performing tasks such as image composition, photo retouching and image authoring.GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program.In this tutorial lets see how to create a Animated GIF image using GIMP in four simple steps.Here I have used GIMP 2.6.8 in Ubuntu 10.04 operating system.

Step 1:
Goto GIMP –> File –> Open as Layers –> Select multiple pictures.
Here I have selected Top 5 Hackers wallpaper picutures – Geekyard

Step 2:
After that goto File –> Save As –> Select File Type –> GIF Image (.gif)
Click Save.
Step 3:
A Export File dialog box will appear.
Select Save as Animation & click Export.

Step 4:
Save as GIF dialog –> Select “Use delay entered above for all frames” and “Use disposal entered above for all frames”  Delay between frames where unspecified as time in millisecond as you like (I have selected 3seconds, so 3000ms)
Click Save.

That’s it your animated GIF picture is created :)
