Useful Apple iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts

iTunes is the best way to follow your favorite artists and friends.  iTunes in Mac OS X look really cool ;) . iTunes is home to everything that entertains you :)  Here is a list of iTunes keyboard shortcuts to quickly accomplish many tasks in iTunes.

File menu shortcuts

Shortcut Action
Cmnd-N Create a new playlist
Shft-Cmnd-N Create a new playlist with the selected songs
Optn-Cmnd-N Create a new Smart Playlist
Cmnd-O Add a file to the Library
Cmnd-W Close the iTunes window
Shft-Cmnd-O Import a song, playlist, or library file
Cmnd-I Open the song or CD Info window for the selected song or CD
Cmnd-R Show where a song file is located
Cmnd-L Show the currently playing song in the list

 

Edit menu shortcuts

Shortcut Action
Cmnd-Z Undo your last action
Cmnd-X Cut the selected song’s information
Cmnd-C Copy the selected song’s information
Cmnd-V Paste the selected song’s information
Cmnd-A Select all the songs in the list
Shft-Cmnd-A Deselect all the songs in the list
Cmnd-B Hide or Show the Artist and Album columns
Cmnd-G Hide or Show the song artwork
Cmnd-J Open the View Options window for the selected source

 

Controls menu shortcuts

Shortcut Action
Space Bar Stop or start playing the selected song
Cmnd-Right Arrow When a song is playing, play the next song in a list
Cmnd-Left Arrow When a song is playing, play the previous song in a list
Cmnd-Up Arrow Increase the volume
Cmnd-Down Arrow Decrease the volume
Optn-Cmnd-Down Arrow Mute the sound
Cmnd-E Eject a CD

 

Visualizer menu shortcuts

Cmnd-T Turn the visualizer on or off
Cmnd-F Make visual effects take up the entire screen

Playback shortcuts

Return Play the selected song immediately
Optn-Right Arrow or Left Arrow Listen to the next or previous album in a list
Cmnd-Left Arrow or Right Arrow Rewind or fast-forward to the next song in a list

 

Library and playlist shortcuts

Shortcut Action
Shft-click the Add (+) button Create a playlist from a selection of songs –
Optn-click the Add (+) button Create a new Smart Playlist
Optn-click the Shuffle button Reshuffle the current playlist
Cmnd-Delete Delete the selected playlist from your Source list without confirming that you want to delete it
Optn-Delete Delete the selected playlist and all the songs it contains from your library
Optn-Delete Delete the selected song from your library and all playlists

 

Music Store shortcuts

Shortcut Action
Cmnd-Right bracket (]) Go to the next page in the Music Store
Cmnd-Left bracket ([) Go to the previous page in the Music Store
